Benefits
Nobody likes a new computer that under performs right out of the box and luckily for those interested in the HP Pavilion 15-ab130na it comes packed with above average hardware giving you a smooth overall experience without any frequent lockups when trying to run anything above basic tasks. It is powered by the AMD Quad A8 processor and has plenty of ram for the average user at 8 GB.
Almost as bad as an under performing new laptop is one that runs out of storage space once you start moving all your important files to you it, but good luck maxing out the drive that HP has decided to put into this model. Usually when we talk about the largest drives available in a new laptop we max out at 1 TB but HP has taken this to the extreme and instead included an awesomely large 2 TB drive which should easily handle all your files and still leave plenty of space leftover.
Downsides
When it comes to portability a full sized laptop isn’t going to give you the same easy on the go experience as some of the smaller more mobile devices will but at the same time you want something that isn’t going to break your shoulder carrying around. The HP Pavilion 15-ab130na may not be the heaviest option available at this screen size but at the same time the 2.3 Kg weight is heavier then others that are available making it not so perfect for on the go use.
Part of the reason for the extra bulk in this design is the fact they have left the optical drive intact, While this is great for those that still use physical media on a regular basis for those who have given up on this outdated technology it just adds extra unnecessary weight to the device.
Verdict
Yes, the HP Pavilion 15-ab130na may not be the lightest option available but don’t think it is a brick by any means or that the other great features don’t more then make up for the slightly heavier design. This is still a very good overall laptop and exactly what we would expect from the popular Pavilion lineup of laptops.
