The Asus UX430UA feels sturdy, but the case is mostly made out of aluminum sheets put on top of a plastic inner frame. There’s more flex in the keyboard deck and especially in the lid. The lid is covered in crystal-like coating that feels like glass but is neither fragile nor as much shock-sensitive. This glossy lid is a fingerprint magnet, however. It’s compact, thin and light and as wide as a standard 13-inch notebook but packs a 14-inch display instead. Bezels are thin on the sides while the top has enough space to attach webcam and microphone if you like.

Verdict

This laptop although it comes with backlit chiclet keyboard, lacks LAN port. Latest and greatest WLAN 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi adapter covers this absence. That’s probably more useful if you have the speed and appropriate router to handle it. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 has to handle all the video graphics. The 256GB SATA3 SSD is a fast performer. You should know that it lacks the option of upgrading the RAM. All of this is powered by a 3 cell Li-Ion Polymer fixed 50WHr battery. The box includes some dongles like USB3.0 to RJ45 to VGA so that you can start using your peripherals right away. This is a good portable laptop for the average user.
